I do!
Obviously, lol 😆
I just learned today that trains need stones to be placed underneath and in between the tracks, or else cracks would occur. Instead of asphalt or concrete, stones provide flexibility. Strong enough stones are needed, like granite or basalt stones.
But here’s the kicker: the rocks need to be irregular and jagged, not smooth. Why? Because smoothness = a shaky foundation. The vibrations from the train would shake the smooth stones loose, like sand, causing the tracks to sink. This is not the case with irregular stones.
The rocks may be jagged, but the ride becomes smoother! Plus, the jagged stones provide drainage, weed blocking, and are noise reducing.
Okay…so where am I going with this? Sometimes, a less smooth foundation can create a strong place for trains…ahem, people–to keep a path forward. Tough moments in life, full of craggy, edgy stones, if you will, can forge strong pathways toward where you want to go. A smooth foundation does not always provide an easy ride. 🙂
Go ahead–allow the path before you to be imperfect, less than comfortable. It might mean that through all those tough edges, you get a better, stronger foundation to carry you forward!
So there you have it. A fun fact AND an excuse to talk about mental health. See you next week!
