Anxiety is a Fly

A Safe Place for Anxious Hearts

Watch Out for the Flames–A Poem

Watch out! Sometimes, you can follow the people you love into the flames. What to do once you know you’re getting burned?

Touch the handle first.
It’s hot.
I’m gonna get burned.
What else can I say about that day?
When all your worries were displaced into my heart?
I tried to break away, but here we are.
I’m falling right back into your truth,
Forgetting to tell the truth about me, too.
I’m back in the building, flames surrounding my soul.
Like a blanket.
I could live here for years, I have.
But you are so much greater than that.
The love I’ve shared with you is far too sacred…no concerns,
I sit here feeling every burn.
I’ll follow you anywhere.
Even into the flames.

Next time, let’s get a fire extinguisher.

Some Topics for Discussion

Have you been in a situation where you felt like you were surrounded by fire and didn’t know how to get out? Do you have a partner that you cherish, but wish you were both a little better prepared for some of life’s curveballs? Leave a comment below ⬇️

A Lil’ Disclaimer about comments:

This blog is meant to be a springboard for discussions on some tough topics. It’s so easy to feel alone, but you’re not!

That hurt you feel? Someone knows it, too.

It doesn’t mean your hurt is less important. It means that you’ve got someone out there that is bound to understand. At least a little.

Things can get tricky. Not all people are kind. But most are just trying to survive.

It’s important to honor the nuances in what someone else is going through, too. Your experience is your own.

It’s complicated, yes.

I’m happy to encourage others to share their stories. Like on any other platform, vulnerability comes with risks. Don’t share unless you feel comfortable. You can count on me in the meantime to put it all out there. 😅
